ANKOLE crown Prince, John Barigye and members of the Nkore Cultural Trust yesterday announced their strong support for Buganda's quest for a federal status.
In a statement, Barigye and the Trust said they fully supported the Kabaka, the Baganda and Mengo government because federalism would bring development to Uganda as a whole.
They urged all Banyankole who cherish their king to support Mengo in its demands.
"We hope that Buganda and other regions which seek federo will be granted what they seek. We believe that by getting federo, it is not only Buganda which will benefit but the whole Uganda," the statement signed by Nkore Cultural Trust vice-chairman, William Katatumba, said.
Buganda has since the 1993 Odoki commission that sought views for the 1995 constitution demanded for a federal status.
Mengo, the seat of Buganda kingdom renewed its demand for federalism in 2001 when President Yoweri Museveni appointed a Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) to review contentious issues in the supreme law.
